"The Transforming Leadership Conference has been refreshing and beneficial. The presenters were able to speak about the issues in which many in the audience can identify with. One youth leader remarked that it was a motivating talk that had spurred him to grow in Christ. New perspectives were shown while the fundamentals were not neglected. It was a great experience."

Four hundred and fifty church pastors and lay leaders in Penang and surrounding towns came for the Eagles Transforming Leadership Conference from April 11 - 12, 2008. Organized by Edmund Chan who is a well respected church leader as well as chair of the Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship in the city, more than 100 churches were involved. The conference featured Peter Chao, John Ng and Michael Tan dealing with issues and concerns of church leadership.

The National President of Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship of Malaysia, Lee Gee Koon came with a team of leaders. He remarked, "All leaders should be encouraged to attend this conference as it provides continuous learning for us to be more effective in leadership."

Rev Koe Choon Huan, Senior Pastor of the Reservoir Garden Baptist Church, Penang, also commented, "There is not enough of such quality leadership training in our city. The conference is relevant to leaders from various denominations. The teaching is really excellent!"

A strategic partnership with the church leaders in Penang will result in a evangelistic banquet in November 2008 to reach the business and professional community there.

Transforming Leaders in Malaysia
Over 230 church workers and lay leaders from different parts of Malaysia gathered together from May 11-12, 2006 at Kuala Lumpur for the Transforming Leadership Conference entitled "Setting the Pace, Running the Race". Speakers Peter Chao, John Ng and Michael Tan led the conference, which was hosted and co-sponsored by First Assembly of God Church, Kuala Lumpur, and organized by National Evangelical Christian Fellowship.

Drawing from the analogy of the apostle Paul, who described life and ministry as "finishing the race", the program included five plenary sessions that started with "Making of a Great Runner" and concluded with "Finishing Strong."

With some participants hailing from various churches in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Ipoh, Kuantan, Terengganu, Muar and even Sarawak in East Malaysia, it was indeed a heartwarming gathering.

Read below for some insights from the participants:

"Having to lead the church as Senior Pastor next year, key lessons from 'Marks of an Effective Leader' became my focal point of learning. It boils down to who I am and what I am called to do. Thanks Peter!" - Daniel Yew, Grace Church, Bukit Mertajam

"A note to thank FAOG for sponsoring this conference, if not, I would not be able to attend this session. The speakers are very good, very professional and they spoke to my heart. I really hope I can attend their future conference." - Susan Boey, First Assembly of God, Kelantan

Our generation, like every generation in the history of the church, faces great needs and challenges. In the face of these unprecedented opportunities, we need competent God-fearing men and women who will step forward and take the lead. More than just running a race; it is about finishing the race and finishing well, despite the seemingly insurmountable odds along the way.
